My name is Laura Gibbs and I became a blended mom of three in 2009 uniting in marriage to my husband Jim. In 2010, we added another child to our family. In essence, we define one example of the modern day blended family structure. I believe that the blended family model is increasing year after year and change in perception, law, and society is paramount to ensure stability, commitment and safety to our children and family units. I had never imagined my life to include inherited children and when it did I realized the extraordinary blessings, challenges and the many limitations my role as a blended mom includes. I’m an advocate for change in society’s view on blended (“step”)mothers, a champion for blended moms legal rights and responsibilities, and am proud to love all of my kids without measure.
